Information for Licensees

Doncaster Best Bar None 2011 has now been launched to licensees from throughout the borough at a launch event at Keepmoat Stadium. The application form includes categories for Pub, Bar, Club, Community Pub and Leisure Venue; this makes the scheme even more accessible to all venues in the borough. The Application is available in three formats - printed booklet, CD or as a PDF download (click here to download the latest version of Adobe reader). The CD and download formats allow you to save the form to your computer, fill it in at your leisure and e mail your entry when complete. The completed form can then be saved and used as the basis for next year’s application.

To ensure that the Best Bar None process is as painless as possible for licensees this page includes information and tools to assist in completing the application form. You will find everything that you need to take the first steps to gaining accreditation or even becoming a category or overall winner in the Doncaster Best Bar None awards 2011.

  • Before filling in the application form, print off this Checklist (PDF), which includes some sample documents to make it easier for you to recognise what information is needed and give you an idea for some of the records that you should have. This will simplify the filling in of the form.
  • Either download the Application Form (PDF) here or pick up a printed version or CD from the Council House. If you have any queries about the information needed or about the application form please contact Best Bar None (details below).
  • Please be as detailed as you can, as this will give the assessors more to work with and make the assessment much smoother. However, if you are unsure of how to word your answer, be brief and explain further during the assessment.
  • Only give answers that reflect your current operating practices not your future plans, as you will need to give evidence to back up your information - print off these Guidelines (PDF) for advice on the kind of evidence that the assessors will be looking for.
  • Once you have completed the application please return it along with the administration fee of £40.00 + VAT (make cheques payable to DMBC) to the address on page 19 of the form. If you apply on-line you will be invoiced for the fee.
  • Closing date for entries is 31st October (applications received after this date are at the discretion of the BBN review panel and will not be eligible for judging in the category winners section)
  • After you have returned the completed application, a team of two BII trained independent assessors will visit your premises to confirm the information supplied, and offer advice if need be on how to evidence this information. Make sure that you’re prepared for your assessment visit. Have any documents that you have as evidence for your policies ready to be viewed by the assessors.
  • Final judging of each category will take place in November and accredited premises and category winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in January.
