Enjoy Doncaster more with Best Bar None
People who want to enjoy a safe and crime-free night out in Doncaster are now even better protected through the aims of a new scheme called Best Bar None.
Best Bar None will reward licensees who provide a safe and enjoyable environment for customers, discourage binge drinking and prevent alcohol related crime.
The UK-wide scheme will be launched in Doncaster on Tuesday 5 September by the Doncaster Evening Economy Partnership, which involves representatives from the Council and South Yorkshire Police.
“I’m very pleased that the Best Bar None scheme is coming to our town. Doncaster has a lot to offer people with its vibrant and entertaining nightlife. This scheme will go further to encouraging licensees to act responsibly and take pride in their surroundings,” said Councillor Stuart Exelby, Cabinet Member for Crime and Public Safety and member of the Doncaster Evening Economy Partnership.
All licensed premises in the town centre will be able to take part in the Best Bar None scheme. Application forms will be available at the launch and successful applicants will receive accreditation at the Awards ceremony to be held early next year. The best pub, bar or club in the town centre which demonstrates a welcoming, safe and responsible drinking environment will be judged the ‘Best Bar None 2006’.
Andy Steele from the Railway Hotel on West Street and also Chairman of Doncasters Pubwatch said: “The Pubwatch members think that this is excellent recognition for their hard work in making Doncaster a safer and more enjoyable night out.”
Atteys solicitors are the awards main sponsor, with First Mainline, Hallam FM and John Smiths also providing sponsorship.
The launch takes place at Le Bistro restaurant, Tuesday 5 September, 12 noon.
